About Us
Channelled Atlantic began with two childhood friends on the Devon coast. Dale studied marine biology, then worked on crab boats out of Dartmouth Harbour. Ben’s background is in farming and engineering. After years of sketching aquaculture ideas, Dale sat down with Ben and his dad Gary to make a plan: a seaweed hatchery to produce seed, a sea farm to grow it and a process to turn that crop into a practical product for UK fields.
We built, tested and iterated, then focused on where we could make the biggest difference: processing fresh, farmed seaweed at scale into reliable inputs that support UK aquaculture and agriculture. The result is our Fermented Liquid Seaweed biostimulant.
Our process from kelp to end product is a 4-month fermentation, this slow extractive process ensures maximum extraction from the kelp. Our biostimulant is produced from fermentation because of the numerous benefits it has, minerals are chelated to aid plant uptake, long-chain seaweed sugars are broken into their organic acids which help upregulate plant defence, and microbes produced aid nutrient cycling when applied as a drench. This is a live product for a live ecosystem. Our Fermented Liquid Seaweed can be used as a root drench and foliar spray and has a near neutral pH of 7.3.
By sourcing from UK seaweed farms we ensure product consistency and the availability needed to produce at scale. When it comes to growing, context is everything, so we help customers dial in the right rate and concentration, with no new equipment needed. It supports growth, builds soil health and backs UK growers from sea to field.
